C-span just reported that Senator Jeffords will not seek re-election in 2006.

I haven't found anything yet in the news or on Jefford's senate web page to confirm this.

Kerry gave Jefford's his donor mailing list - I got a letter from Jeffords a few months ago. I guess he has not raised much in the first quarter 2005. Right wing groups are targeting Jeffords.

Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is likely to run for senate in VT. Howard Dean said he will stay as DNC chair. Leahy got 70%, Kerry got above 60% but the republican governor got above 60% also. The state leans democrat. Sanders will be more outspoken than Jeffords. Jeffords says he is leaving for health reasons (his and his wife's)
