Bart is running for re-election:
QUOTE
Dear Voter:
I would like to thank the you for your support during my time as your Congressman. Over the past 12 years, I have never shied away from the challenging questions and responsibilities that have confronted our nation, and I am prepared to face the difficult issues that will challenge us in the coming years. I believe in the greatness of this country and the hard-working, honest people of northern Michigan. I will continue to fight for the issues that are important to you, the State of Michigan, and our Nation.
I am seeking re-election to continue my work to protect our Great Lakes, provide affordable health care and prescription drugs to every American and help get our economy back on track.
We must repeal tax breaks to companies that ship jobs outside our borders and provide tax incentives to companies that keep jobs here at home. Congress should restore funding to jobs programs that help small business expand and be competitive.
The Medicare law, which I opposed, is confusing and provides little prescription drug relief. We need a user-friendly drug benefit that uses the bargaining power of the federal government to reduce drug costs and allows the importation of cheaper drugs from Canada.
I have been a leader in protecting our Great Lakes from water diversion, the sale of Great Lakes water, and the drilling for oil and gas beneath our Great Lakes. I also believe the Annex 2001 proposal should not allow any diversion of Great Lakes water.
While my responsibilities now are greater than they were 12 years ago, I am still the same individual you first elected in 1992. I may work in DC, but I live in Menominee, and I travel back home to northern Michigan every weekend. I ask for your vote on November 2nd, and I thank you for your support!
