I don't visit the Freeper board but a link to their discussion about Bayh came up when I was doing some research. They are freeping out about Bayh. They have no idea how they will attack him and are very concerned that if he gets the nomination he'll win.
Well we're kinda hoping that he does because Freeps we plan on winning. Never thought Freepers could be used for PR for Bayh but they're saying what I have been saying all along. Just a few freeped out comments:
Mark my words, this guy will be the next President. He'll slay Hilary, pretend to be a real centrist, and run to the RIGHT of Rudy, McCain, or Romney if they're elected by the GOP. He'd also give Allen a tough race. After 8 years of the GOP in power, I think he stands an excellent chance of winning. I hate the prospect of ANY Dem winning, but I've felt this for a long time, and still do. I'm sure most fellow FReepers will disagree. He'll take Indiana, and maybe a southern state or two... That's all he'd need.
-
Is anyone else worried about this guy? He doesn't have the negative baggage that Hilary has... Can't be labeled a lib, and I believe he has solid military experience, and has been to the right of most libs. Would love to know what his weaknesses are.
-
I'm from Indiana and I'm worried about him. He's as slick as Clinton and without the baggage as you say. He's just another liberal that sides with the extremists in the Senate. I agree with you. He has an excellence chance of being the next President. He would slay Hillary.
-
Bayh is a scary candidate. He'd run to the right of the Guliani or MeCain and win.
Hopefully we'll run a real conservative who can expose Bayh for the fraud he is. Bayh may talk like Limbaugh but he votes like Ted Kennedy.
-
Lifetime ACU rating for Bayh: 22. He could carry Indiana as a Democrat--a rarity for a Presidential contender.
The last time a Democrat carried Indiana was 1964.
-
I'm from Indiana and I'm also scared to death that he will fool more than enough people to win. He is a lib in every way except one...he supported the war and says all the right things about that.
Indiana is a solid conservative state, yet he got enough crossover votes to win, with large margins, two terms as Governor.
Even some of my staunch conservative (but uninformed) friends have said they could be persuaded to vote for him, proving that his lies while at home are effective. Of course, he then goes to D.C. and votes with his buddy Teddy.
I hope those of you predicting a divided dem vote are correct and he does not even make it out of the primaries.

I've been saying all along that he's our worst nightmare. Hillary has no shot in a general election. Bayh would carry Indiana (11 EV's) and Richardson would carry New Mexico (5 EV's). Let's assume that they carry all the Kerry States. The GOP EV total would then be reduced from 286 to 271 (need 270 to win). I can easily see another Southwestern state like Arizona or Nevada being picked off because of Richardson to give the dems the win.
I think Allen will be our candidate (I know he's a Senator know but he was a popular Governor of Virginia). To put us back over the top we need someone from a Kerry state as the V.P nominee like Pawlenty from Minnesota to flip it back over. Hence, my tagline.
-
Bayh would crush Allen and or Pawlenty.
-
Why is everyone always saying we need to pick up a Blue state? Hold the States we have.Pawlenty does not have the support of conservatives in his own state and Allen is more popular with moderates than real conservatives.IF WE CAN'T beaT Bayh in Indiana then we do not deserve the White House
-
Evan's political career got a big boost from the name recognition his father - Birch - had in the state. He is an out of nowhere candidate like Clinton. He should be watched closely.
-
If Bayh gets the nomination, he wins. Period. We don't have anyone who could possibly beat him.
Fortunately, the moonbats in the Democrat primaries will probably reject him in favor of a more suitable candidate, such as Dean or Kucinich.
-
You know, Bayh is NOT a superman! I swear, I think you folks are scaring yourselves!
What good does it do to throw in the towel, now? The election is over 2 1/2 years from now. By then all sorts of things can happen, people can emerge that we haven't thought about on the Republican side, and Bayh could get caught in a scandal or something. For goodness sakes, let's try to be positive! At this time in the 2000 cycle, few had considered George Bush and none of us knew what a good campaigner he was.
Think positive!

He is quite liberal, despite the way he has successfully painted himself as a moderate. He is on the fringe on a number of issues. Voted against Condi for S.O.S., for example.

Winston, why don't you tell us what you really think, say, in more graphic terms
It's funny to read how many of them think he's a liberal.
