Green Opposes Feingold Plan

by Brian Brown
August 20, 2005

Republican U.S. Representative Mark Green, of Green Bay is speaking out against new legislation introduced by U.S. Senator Russ Feingold. Feingold is looking to set a deadline for pulling troops out of Iraq. Green has visited Iraq twice since Operation Iraqi Freedom began and believes the U.S. would only be putting itself in harm's way if troops were to pull out of Iraq on a set date.
(Audio Here)
Green says setting an artificial date for withdrawal sends a terrible message to Iraqis.
(Audio Here)
Feingold has set a deadline of December 31, 2006. Although Green strongly disagrees with Senator Feingold, he believes Feingold fully supports U.S. troops. Green's belief is pulling troops out of Iraq sends a terrible message to not only Iraqi's but to the world.

Unfortunately, the (audio here) parts are quotes from Green explaining his stance in more detail, and is not available.

Has Congressman Green made any comments about Sen. Feingold's first proposal, SR 171?

I like Feingold's first resolution(171) better than this one. But apparently his first resolution is still sitting in a committee. He must know that it is not going anywhere, so he's proposing another one.
