Tommorrow will be the 1 year anniversary of the end of the "Assault Weapons Ban". In the weeks prior to the ban ending, Gun control groups such as the Million mom march and VPC proclaimed that there would be a flood of "assault rifles" and massive amounts of bloodshed due to these "evil Weapons of Mass Destruction".

Yet on the contrary none of this has happened. There was the hunting incident in wisconsin, yet the SKS rifle used was not covered by the ban because it was not an "Assault Weapon". Has anyone heard of ANY incidents involving these Dreaded "Assault Weapons".

Seems to me the VPC/MMM tried to play the emotional "its for the Children" card but common sense prevailed. I guess this just proves that these firearms are no different that any other firearms, when used properly. Anything you can think of can cause death if used incorrectly or unsafely. Yet no-one has tried to institute an "Assault Car Ban" or "Assault Claw Hammer Ban" or even a "Assault knife Ban" (England is trying to do this).

What do you all think??

I think there's been a couple of incdients where ti was reported that an assault rifle or AK-47 was used in the crime but that was faulty reporting and the gun was either a common hunting rifle or handgun.

Haven't heard anything about there being an increase in so-called assault weapon crimes since the ban expired.

The lack of rampant violence in the wake of the AWB dismissal is not surprising to those of us with the knowledge of it. The ban after all was the solution to a nonexistent problem.

Happy one year Assault Weapon Ban Expiration. If my local range wasn't closed for renovation I would go an do some shooting there today.

Im looking forward to the range opening up later this month, hopefully I will have my home built Romanian Semi-auto AK-47's ready by then to test fire and run through their paces.

I would suggest you get to be buddies with someone up at Edson Range. I went through bootcamp and ITR with a fellow who ended up being the range officer at Stone Bay. Weekends we would pull butts for each other.
