I hear you can pick one up anywhere from 300-500 and was curious to know what you all (Gun owners) think of them. Thanks. thumbsup.gif

as long as you can legally own one of these (not a criminal) and they are legal in the state you live in yes you can.

Pricing is around 350ish for a basic model. Or you can do what I am doing and build your own for a little bit cheaper. Good guns, fun to plink with and you could use it for hunting with a 5 rd magazine.

I agree...The Romanian models are solid performers.

Yup. Here's my SAR-1 (from the Gallery). smile.gif

The importation of SAR's was discontinued a while back by a BATFE rule change, so the currently imported models are WASR's. The only difference is that where mine has a large oval dimple on the side of the receiver (like a real AK), the WASR is smooth-sided, and of course since the AWB expired they come with a muzzle brake instead of a bare muzzle like mine, and the gas block on the new ones has a little tab on the bottom (bayonet lug). Just make sure the rifle you get has the front sight and the gas block (angled thing behind the front sight assembly) on straight; Century assembles these rifles in the U.S. from imported parts, and sometimes they don't put them together straight. It doesn't hurt reliability, but it means your sights will be off-center when the rifle is zeroed.

(Muzzle brakes weren't outlawed by the AWB, but muzzle threads were, and pin-on brakes look silly and tend to fall off if not installed correctly; WASR brakes are screwed on, as they should be.)

Read a number of positive comments about the WASR-10 and at a price of about $300.00, it's seems to be a very good buy.

Anyone know where i could get one of these? Preferably as cheap as possible... i'm only 20 and i'm a bit strapped for cash. Thanks.

Do a google search and you'll find stores that sell on line such as this one:

That's how I bought my last gun which was from a gun dealer in Maryland who shipped it to a gun dealer about 15 miles away from my location. Had to pay a small $10.00 fee for his troubles.

Put your money together as you can. By all means...BE PATIENT. Not any easy thing for a 20-year-old, but it ultimately gets you what you want.

Oh yeah, i know. That is the exact type of person i am; i save up until i have enough and if i don't, then i don't buy. I could probably get enough in about a couple months if i hold off on others things... but, i know once i get there, i'm gonna think why not just save up a few extra hundred and get an AR? haha.gif But yeah, one day i will have a collection. I think getting an AK as my first gun will be pretty sweet (Other than a ton of different BB guns i've had since i was around 8). I mean, i've shot a few real guns, just never have owned any.
