While researching AR's for awhile, i stumbled upon this site that shows you how to build AR-15's.

According to the site, you can buy an AR-15 kit for 300-600 dollars depending on the brand. Would any of you suggest going this route?

This is the online bible of the AR-15. Everything you want to know about the "Black Rifle" is contained here. They are easier to build than the AK's.

Its hard to believe that an AR would be easier to build than an AK, because AK's are not very complicated, Im getting ready to build a couple romanian AK's on 100% recievers, the hardest part is drilling the holes in the right spot LOL.

I like ARF, The Ak-47 subforum is very informative and there are alot of helpful people there. I use the same screen name there too, I use this screen name on all the forums I'm a member of.

Maybe I'll see you around

AK's are simply designed, but they are a rivet and sheet metal system of construction on the receiver. The AR is put together with pins that simplify the building greatly. It's the modular construction that makes it easier.

One caveat about AR kits is that it may take a little tinkering and tuning to get the rifle to be as reliable as the one you buy straight from Rock River Arms or Bushmaster or whatever.

Also, cheaper is not necessarily better; don't use bottom-of-the-barrel parts...
