Here is the text of the email I received:

Dear Michael,

On Monday October 10th, you have the power to help Minnesota Democrats running in 2005 and 2006 and bring some positive change to Saint Paul.

Please join me for two special events in Saint Paul on Monday October 10th in support of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) and our DFL-endorsed candidate for Mayor in Saint Paul, Chris Coleman.

We will start the morning with a fundraising breakfast at 8:00 a.m. at the Radisson Riverfront Hotel in Saint Paul in support of the DFL. Tickets to this breakfast start at $250 dollars; every dollar goes directly to the DFL to be used towards electing more Minnesota Democrats. Please RSVP in advance.

Over the course of the next year, Minnesotans will vote in critical local, state and federal elections that will directly impact the lives of families in Minnesota. We need to come together today to ensure our candidates and the DFL have the resources they need to bring positive change to our communities and our country. We saw how early the Republicans got started in 2004 and we can't sit by quietly in the 2005 and 2006 elections. Please join me at this important event in support of Minnesota Democrats.

One of the most critical 2005 races in Minnesota is the race for Mayor of Saint Paul. Right after we finish breakfast, we will travel over to Macalester College, Kagin Commons to rally in support of my friend and proud Saint Paul public servant Chris Coleman, who is running to be the next Mayor of Saint Paul. Admission is free and doors open at 9:00 a.m..

Endorsed by the DFL and leaders across the community, Chris Coleman has been fighting for Saint Paul families his entire life. Now we need to fight for him. His platform of strong schools and safe streets resonates with families in Saint Paul and he has a proven record of accomplishment. He is a stand up Democrat who has dedicated his career to promoting Democratic values of community and opportunity and we all need to stand up and help him win on November 8th.

So join me on Monday, October 10th at Macalester College, Kagin Commons to show your support for Chris Coleman -- and his commitment to strong schools and safe streets for Saint Paul.

Bring your friends, your family and your neighbors and sign up Monday at our Macalester College rally to be part of Chris's great army of volunteers for Election Day.

This will be a tough campaign and it is critical we do all we can today to help Chris get out the vote. A lifetime Minnesota Democrat, Chris understands the power of grassroots organizing. Now we need to do everything we can to grow the grassroots for him.

We have less than a month to go before Election Day. For the next weeks, we all need to come together in support of Chris Coleman. Let's kick off this critical period together starting on Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. at the Radisson Riverfront and then at Macalester College, Kagin Commons at 9:00 a.m.

I look forward to seeing you in Saint Paul on Monday. Thank you for your support of Chris Coleman and Minnesota Democrats.

Sincerely,

John Kerry

P.S. If you can't join us on Monday, please consider supporting Chris Coleman's campaign by volunteering over the next few weeks.

I attended the rally for Chris Coleman for St. Paul Mayor and actually got to speak to Sen. Kerry for a few moments!

I told him about CGCS and how many of his supporters from the Kerry forum (and later the Kerry-Edwards forum) are here discussing the issues we face as a nation. He said he would check it out, and when that man looks you in the eye and says he will do something, it happens!

I will be posting some pics later today!

Also noted that Patty Wetterling, Amy Klobuchar (running for Sen. Mark Dayton's US Senate seat) and US Rep Betty McCollum were there as well! I personally would love to see either Patty or Amy win that seat in 2006!

I was standing next to Patty on the ropeline and had a great conversation with her. She also spoke to Sen. Kerry and he pledged his support for the Democrat running for that Senate seat!

I think we will see a lot of Sen. Kerry in MN as the 2006 races heat up. He is very popular among progressives here and I'm sure will help as much as he can.

The Senator joked: "I'm a lawyer but haven't practiced law for several years, was never a judge and I've met George Bush... I guess that makes me qualified for the Supreme Court!" laugh.gif

Michael----

Also urge him to go ahead and declare because that might prevent what happened last time that we had nine possible or ten, potential candidates and their constituencies and this I think resulted in a lot of the press accusing the party of not having any focus now. I don't know much about the inside at the national level just reading tea leaves, and my feeling last time was that DNC support was tepid and it was because former chair was so tight with the Clintons. DNC needs to back Kerry 200% this time given the number of votes he received. If the committe keeps committee-ING (there was just another of theireetings about the timing of primaries etc, you can find and watch on C-Span) and this is just not the time to be spinning wheels.

Do you have any feeling that the comte may be holding out for Hillary's move?

Since she is a pretty much given to hold her senate seat I think she should serve another senate term then make her bid.

I only had a moment with him and was lucky to get in a plug for CGCS, but some insiders say he is seriously considering another run for President. smile.gif
