The following is a letter has been sent to several Massachusetts musicians, announcing the launch of a myspace group that will serve to foster the campaign of John Bonifaz for Secretary of State, with cc to Michelle Shocked, Evan Greer, John Bonifaz, David Lytel. I share it with CGCS to extend the offer of joining the campaign and the myspace group.

Dear Massachusetts activist musicians,
I could have sent this to a much wider group, but am focusing on people I know who support progressive causes.
I'll get to the point. Over the past week I reached the conclusion that Massachusetts needs John Bonifaz as our next Secretary of State.
The Secretary of State is the principle public information officer, overseeing such vital areas as elections, deeds, and security.
Why am I supporting John? I first met John on January 3, 2005, where he addressed a packed Faneuil Hall as part of a distinguished panel including David Lytel of Re-Defeat Bush, Green Party Vice Presidential candidate Pat Lemarche; Tom Barbera, one of thirteen MA electors who passed a unanimous resolution asking for the investigation and remedy of election violations; Faye Morrison, Ayer Selectwoman who spent six months campaigning and working with Election Protection in several states, Donna Palermino, an activist and attorney. Music was provided by Greg Greenway.

John has spoken at numerous events as part of the After Downing Street work, including testifying before a Congressional panel in June, together with Ray McGovern, Joe Wilson, and Cindy Sheehan. Congressman Jonh Conyers hosted that event, and his office continues to look to John for valuable expertise on constitutional law.
John will make the most down-to-earth, sincerely humble, and accessible Secretary of State that any state will ever elect. But he is not only strikingly brilliant in his ability to pare a mass of information down to the key concise points. He is also a certified "genius," having in 1999, received a prestigious MacArthur Foundation Fellowship, otherwise known as the "genius" award.
Let's show the country what those who care about the values John defends can do.
Let's do what John always signs his Emails with: Keep on.
