To the editor:

I can just imagine it. Somewhere, in a little room, crotchety old men are huddled, strategizing. “We need a new issue to flagellate to drum up the ire of the faithful. We’ve done the gay marriage thing and the flag burning thing to death. What would fire them up and motivate them to vote en masse again, as they did for W in ’04? Wait...I have an idea: what could be more galvanizing than ’The War Against Christmas?’” “You’re brilliant, Jerry! We must send the word out immediately to all our usual conduits!”

And so they did, and yet another bogus issue is filtered through the fundamentalist churches.

Seriously, can you think of a sillier non-issue? In the first place, the non-sectarion use of “Happy holidays,” etc., is hardly new. In the second place, Christmas is not being attacked, it’s being made more inclusive of Americans of different faiths.

Is this what people really object to? I hope not.

Pegatha,
I suspect you'll enjoy how GOP.com greets Christmas Eve surfers. A hot chocolate steamy hug directly from the RNC to you

Just in case they find Scanlon's "wackos" furious over that welcome, I screencapped it for later "Ya-UnhHUUUUnnnh, can't deny the existence of that WMD!".

PS. If you're unfamiliar with Scanlon's 'wackos' reference, see what Christianity Today had said about their cynical manipulation by lobby-leaders of the 'Rupt Wing

Dear Pegatha:

Right on!!! It's definitely a nonissue; a made-up crisis the fundamentalist Christians invented because they refuse to deal with real issues and crises that average Americans have to deal with. In the limited capacities of these narrow-minded fundamentalists, the heretofore famous melting pot of cultures America had been famous for, doesn't exist. Let them stew in their own hatred!! They have nothing better to do.

"Happy Holidays" is meant to be all inclusive, not exclusive, of all faiths and cultures who--despite these devisive fundamentalist Christians--live in peace, harmony and, yes, in friendship. So, fellow CGCS subscribers: Merry Xmas, Happy Chanukah, Kwanza, and New Year; and, yes, Happy Holidays to all!!

Sincerely,

Jesseaw
