Biography of John Laesch

John Laesch was born on January 29th, 1974. The Laesch family served as Christian Missionaries, and John spent much of his childhood on the mission field in West Africa.

In 1986, the Laesch family returned to the United States and settled on a small farm in Newark, Illinois. During high school, John worked in the fields of several family-owned farms across Kendall County. John was captain of the soccer team and graduated at the top of his class from Newark High School in 1992. John received an A.S. from Waubonsee Community College in 1999.

Driven by his desire to serve his country, John enlisted in the United States Navy in 1995. In 1996, Laesch graduated from Great Lakes Naval Training Center at the top of his class.

Throughout his tour of duty, Laesch served as an intelligence analyst in Bahrain, monitoring terrorist activity and analyzing foreign political and military structures. For his outstanding service to our nation, John received numerous citations and meritoriously rose 5 ranks within 3 short years.

Following an honorable discharge from the military, Laesch attended Illinois State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in History, while pursuing minors in Political Science and Communications.

Laesch’s desire to create positive change for the nation led him to become involved in political affairs. John volunteered for numerous political campaigns, and took on higher leadership roles in each subsequent campaign. In 2004, Laesch served as the campaign manager for Dr. David Gill in the Illinois 15th Congressional District.

John’s commitment to truth and Democracy has led him to challenge the current Speaker of the House, J. Dennis Hastert in the 2006 election.

John is currently employed as a carpenter, and in his free time, he enjoys biking, fishing, and working on the family farm.

John Laesch on the Issues

As your Congressman, John will work toward:

A health care system that ensures every American has access to affordable healthcare without overburdening government resources.

An economy that puts the needs of Main Street before the desires of Wall Street while defending the American Dream for future generations.

An education system that expands upon the dedication of family, promotes responsibility, and rewards achievement while opening the door to infinite possibilities.

A national energy policy that focuses on reducing foreign energy dependence and national consumption, promotes alternative energy sources and strives for sustainability.

A foreign policy that includes a Success Strategy for Iraq in the short-term and respects other nations; safeguards our security, the environment and workers rights in the long-term.

Ending the War in Iraq, bringing our heroes home and allowing International peace-keepers to resolve the ongoing civil war.

A political system that works to ensure the integrity of our electoral system, increases voter turnout and reduces the influence of special interest groups.

A voting system that protects the right to vote and insures that your vote has been counted.
I have taken the Voters First Pledge to make elections fair, restore accountability, and get lobbyists out of Washington.

I hope he wins Haster's seat, but the Maj Leader job doesn't work that way. Ask Nancy Pelosi.
