Deval Patrick is Massachusetts' people-powered gubernatorial candidate. Despite being underfunded and outspent, he's surging because of the people army he's building. It's truly inspiring to see this happen. Not just in places like Virginia and Montana, but in solidly Blue machine-politics states like Massachusetts.

NICE !!!

I hope Deval Patrick can manage to get some campaign ads on the air soon. Gabrielli has more money than God, and he's been using his personal fortune to flood the airwaves with ads.

When I was in Gloucester about a week ago, Deval Patrick had people in the annual Fishtown Horribles Parade on July 3. The only other candidate represented there was Healey, and Healey was there herself. I must say she seemed very charming, and in terms of fetching female politicians she ranks right up there with Senator Mary Landrieu and a local Republican here in Northern Virginia, Jeannemarie Devolites, a state senator who has been touted as a possible candidate for Lt. Governor in the future.

Anyway, my sister commented that Patrick is the best organized of the Democratic candidates. She also said that he is the most progressive of the lot, and that Reilly is more socially conservative and has more of a blue-collar base. Anything that anyone would add to that, or clarify? And what's the scoop about Gabrielli? Who is this Mihos?

Mihos is late of the Turnpike Authority, those folks who were in charge of the Big Dig. So I suspect his political career may soon careen to a halt. Patrick is the most progressive of the candidates, as far as I can tell. Reilly is the current AG, and is the most socially conservative of the Dem candidates. He has more support in the blue-collar industrial towns, and has the MA Dem old-boy network behind him. Gabrielli is a bit of a mystery, having stepped into the race rather late. He's a Dem, and he seems fairly liberal. But because he seems to be trying to buy the nomination with his personal fortune, he's built up some resentment among the party regulars.

While she may be "fetching", Healey is something of an empty suit. (hence my nickname for her, "Barbie") She has accomplished nothing while she's been Lt. Governor. Mittens has been hogging any glory that's to be had for himself, leaving his protege to twist in the wind with her own very lean resume.

She certainly seems to be a nice-looking "Barbie"! But I am not so superficial as to vote for "fetching." If Ms. Devolites does run statewide here I doubt if I would vote for her. I don't vote for her husband now, who is my Congressman.

Anyway, your polls don't look too good for Healey.

Healey has a bio a Democratic woman would die for. She is accomplished in her own right. She was not born to wealth. She went to Harvard and Oxford, married a working class Marine's son who also got into Harvard.

The nonsense about her being a barbie (common insult from Democrats here) is belied when she gets to speak in public. Most professional women I know who are Democrats and have listened to the Lt. Governor speak have been won over.

When the campaign gets in high gear the Democrats will rue the day they painted a picture of her that will be easily dismantled. The woman has a resume of her own. She is articulate and bright and has come up the hard way. She is the American dream.

But she is a Republican in Massachusetts so we will savage her with lies, innuendo and belittle her physical appearance and we wil typecast her and ignore her successes.

Mihos, is a fool who sues everyone when he does not get his way. He will get the retrograde angry vote. He made money in a franchise biz and equates money with intelligence. He will do well for the economy of political campaign makers. he will spend money on a lost cause.
