Full Version: Why Indiana Tops The Terrorist Target List
Common Ground Common Sense > State & Local Information > Midwestern Region > Indiana

Indiana tops the list of terrorist targets because Newport, Indiana, about 50 miles west of the state’s capital and 30 miles north of Terre Haute, is/was home to one of the world’s largest stockpiles of VX nerve gas. The stockpile holds more than 2.5 million pounds of the substance, which is rated by Guinness World Book of Records as being the deadliest substance known to mankind. The smoke from a burning stockpile of 2.5 million pounds is enough to kill the population of the entire planet several times over. Although the army has reduced the size of that stockpile considerably there is still enough to wipe out large populations in the U.S. As little as 200 micrograms is enough to kill an average person. Until that time Indiana will remain at the top of the list. This information was not part of the New York Times article U.S. Terror Targets: Petting Zoo and Flea Market? . Instead the article highlighted a Amish popcorn business in Indiana.

One business owner who learned from a reporter that a company named Amish Country Popcorn was on the list was at first puzzled. The businessman, Brian Lehman, said he owned the only operation in the country with that name.

“I am out in the middle of nowhere,” said Mr. Lehman, whose business in Berne, Ind., has five employees and grows and distributes popcorn. “We are nothing but a bunch of Amish buggies and tractors out here. No one would care.”

But on second thought, he came up with an explanation: “Maybe because popcorn explodes?”

It is important for readers of the NYT to understand the reason why Indiana is one of the top terrorist targets. An attack here may affect the entire country. Believe me terrorist focus in Indiana has little to do with our popcorn.
