"Greetings MMOB & Leave My Child Alone'rs–

Here's a quick update on the progress of MMOB's Pollworkers for Democracy election integrity project. With less than 15 weeks counting down to November 7, and important primaries in the meantime, it's time to think about taking hold of our election process again.

Thanks go out to everyone who pledged to work the polls, and to those of you considering it now. These are the states you represent so far:

FL, MO, CA, NC, WA, NY, CT, NJ, MD, WI, IA, TX, NJ, GA, PA

If you pledged with us, now make sure to sign up with your local elections official (find here) and let us know how it goes

If you can possibly add your state to this list by pledging a big long (paid!) day for democracy working those polls, please send along an email with name and contact information, including county and phone, to pollmoms@themmob.org

If your state is on the list, know that we would love to have you join up and represent your county

Can't stomach the long day? Then consider a support role. We'll need MMOBsters on the phone and pulling data together...just email us if you're interested

For anyone who may be wondering if pollworkers can really make a difference, consider Kern County last month, where the Diebold systems were dysfunctional for 3 hours. Some pollworkers knew to rip open the emergency boxes of paper ballots so their voters could vote. Others did not, and their voters were turned away.

Or consider the pollworkers of Dallas County who were called upon again and again by confused voters who saw their straight party ticket vote switch to the other party on touchscreen voting machines. One pollworker there documented the experience, an important part of restoring transparency to this compromised process. So come help others vote, come see an American election for yourself close up, and come away with the evidence. Email pollmoms@themmob.org, guilt-free as always.

Best to you,

The MMOB"
