Right now we have a unique opportunity to help the people of Darfur.

Both the House and the Senate have passed different versions of the Darfur Peace and Accountability Act, critical legislation that will help stop the genocide in Darfur. If the final version of the bill is not immediately brought to a vote, the legislation and all of your hard work to get it passed will disappear with the close of the legislative session on
October 6.

Senators who are members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee have the power to bring the bill to the floor of the Senate for a vote. It's also important that your senator urge Senator Lugar, the Committee Chairman, to put Section 11, which prevents lawsuits against states that choose to divest from Sudan, back into the bill.

I'm calling to ask Senator ______ to bring the Darfur Peace and Accountability Act to the floor of the Senate for a vote before the end of this legislative session. I am also asking the Senator to urge Senator Lugar to put Section 11 back into the bill. Section 11 is important because it protects the right of ____state___ to prevent investments that fund the genocidal Sudanese government.

This is a critical time for the people of Darfur. If possible I'd like a written response letting me know Senator _____ position. Thank you.
