Dear Senators:

As an American, Southerner and Vietnam infantry veteran I am thankful there are still some in the Republican Party who understand what this nation stands for.

My God, have we fallen so low as to pass legislation to immunize Americans from
The Geneva Conventions and The U.S. Constitution? Almost, but not while
y’all are on your watch.

I’m a Blue Dog Democrat, a combat vet and a semi-retired deputy sheriff and I just wanted to thank you guys for saving what sense of patriotism I still have left. Thank you for your courage to vote against the president’s legislation.

And, John, in my heart of hearts I believed you would never forget. I knew your indelible experience in the Hanoi Hilton would not let you. Thanks brother, keep the faith of our fathers.
