The 700-mile fence Congress has approved and sent to GW is nothing more than an election ploy.

According to a story Saturday, Sept. 30, in the Washington Post:

Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Tex.) tried to amend the Senate bill to give the Department of Homeland Security more flexibility in the placement of the barriers, but House leaders resisted any changes to the House-passed bill. In the end, she settled for a letter from GOP leaders promising to revisit the issue when Congress returns after the elections.

So even if GW rejects an official request from Mexico to veto the bill, and
allows it to become law, it will probably be amended into oblivion "after the
elections".

Therefore, IMO this fence will never be built.

What little fence already in place has proved to be vulnerable to the wire cutters.

I have never considered myself a prejudiced individual, I lived and worked with every race, creed, religion, whatever for 30 years. But I am FED-UP with illegal aliens and FED-UP with politicians from both parties letting my country be invaded.

Mexico is dumping Mexico's problems at our feet. Most of the money these illegals make get sent back to Mexico. They do not contribute to our society, in many cases the work they do is shoddy and haphazard, and they depress wages in many vocations to the point Americans don't want to do the work.

The only people who really benefit are the people looking for cheap labor.

get me a politician who will really do something and I'll vote for him.

Are they planning to run that Nafta highway nearby you?
A lot of farms are being taken for that thing...

This is typical election year tactic --previously Congress has authorized additional border guards but never got around to appropriating, and same for training capacity - so this problem has been manipulated to retain political power------------------again.

They will campaign on the fact of passing the legislation and never mention that implementation has not been funded etc.

Voters need to be made more conscious of this time worn bait.

Well, I went to the meeting at the Civic Center for Ellis County.

Their plans are so vague no one knows anything. According to the plan the 20 mile wide swath where the TTC will somewhere's be located clips the back corner of my farm. If they pushed the thing right out to the edge of that corridor I'd lose abount 40 acres.

There was only one person there who spoke in favor of this land grab boondoggle and he was booed and hissed out of the auditorium. Numerous elected officials got up and spoke about what a bad idea the TTC is. Numerous farmers got up and spoke their minds too. One got a rousing round of applause and cheering when he made the statement "Out here in the country iminent domain means you better have a bigger gun than I do"

Rural Texas is still democratic, No one has any love for Rick Perry.

The Trans Texas Corridor reeks of graft and corruption, it lterally reeks. No voter approval, massive land siezures, and ownership handed over to a foreign owned company for a pentance.

I figure if they go through with it the farmers and ranchers are written off politically for the next four or five generations by the republicans. God help us because the democrats don't pay attention to the one's who brung them to the dance.

Like I said, God help us because the democrats don't pay any attention to who brought them to power.
