CARLSON: It goes deeper than that though. The deep truth is that the elites in the Republican Party have pure contempt for the evangelicals who put their party in power. Everybody in…

MATTHEWS: How do you know that? How do you know that?

CARLSON: Because I know them. Because I grew up with them. Because I live with them. They live on my street. Because I live in Washington, and I know that everybody in our world has contempt for the evangelicals. And the evangelicals know that, and they're beginning to learn that their own leaders sort of look askance at them and don't share their values.

MATTHEWS: So this gay marriage issue and other issues related to the gay lifestyle are simply tools to get elected?

CARLSON: That's exactly right. It's pandering to the base in the most cynical way, and the base is beginning to figure it out.

Carlson and I look at the world from very different places, but we came up with the same perception-conception of this situation. I seldom am sure what people mean by, "elite." More education and higher socio-economic level seems to be the most salient variable involved.

Harold Ford - TN said at one of his rallys that some of these wedge issues would never be solved by either party, because if they were - the two sides wouldn't have those issues to fight about which distracts people from the bigger issues.

It's possible he's more right than wrong.

Wedge issues also assure a constant flow of support and resources with minimal effort on the part of the politicians, they can't afford to either win or lose on them.

Is Bush educated?

Went to Andover, Yale Harvard.

Never travelled outside the US. Spent most of his time partying.

Has no curiousity at all for other cultures or history.

Are the Rove-Cheney-NeoCon Cabal educated?

Are they the "Elite"

Or just power-hungry oil men

The elite, the people from good (or very bad) bloodlines, the rich, the educated....they are not all in favour of the republicans. It is republican judges that keep Aung San Suu Kyi in house arrest, it is BushCo's policies that (I bet) have led to our Princess Masako being on serious medication for the last several years (coinciding with Bush's election it seems).

Evangelicals did not elect the Republicans. Look at Lewis Alper. Yes, some of the less educated ones think BushCo is in favour of LIFE which shows that those people are too busy to do the investigation required to get the truth these days.

Catholics were TOLD to vote for LIFE ie someone who would bomb brown-skinned people to death, but who took a ''pro-life'' stand regarding the unborn. They were cheated. Also, Kerry did not (deliberately?) see the opening for a real PRO-LIFE person. Someone who would clear the death rows, someone who would support the unborn, someone who would REFUSE to do the bidding of the aggressive Weapons Corporations.

One quarter of America is Catholic and they do not ask their Bishop who to vote for, they vote for the one who gets them the most money....or the one who will protect them from 'Terrorism' but they do not realize that Bush is the terrorist, and Blair is the terrorist.

And anyway, Tucker is a disinformation agent. Since when did America count the votes properly???? And that was Kerry's fault, but I suppose he wanted to come out of it ALIVE>

Tucker Carlson stood, or sat there, spouting pro-Republican LIES for months on Crossfire. How can he say this? He is the chief, or one of the chief DISINFORMATION agents who keep the evangelicals from the truth....that Bush was never pro-life, just pro-death, as long as those who die are not his supporters.
