There's going to be a special election for the NYS Senate's 7th district seat on Feb 6th. This is a seat that was held by Republican Sen. Michael Balboni who won his re-election bid last year but then was chosen by Eliot Spitzer to join his cabinet as his homeland security chief and the seat is now open.

The candidates for this seat are Democrat County Legislator Craig Johnson and Republican County Clerk Maureen O'Connell. Should Johnson win this seat the senate would be 33-29 in favor of the republicans which would put us 3 seats away from reclaiming the majority.

Johnson doesn't have a website up yet for his senate race but fellow new yorkers let's do everything we can to elect Craig Johnson for the 7th district, win him that seat and slim the repubs majority by 4 seats.

26 days to win.
