Some of you may have noticed that I've not been posting much lately- like since the first of the year. Reason is: the school district has blocked CGGS as a site with "bad words". Yeah, that's the reason: BAD WORDS! There are several other sites- all liberal or progressive- that give me the same message.

Needless to say, it pissed me off. You really don't want to piss me off, especially if you are a governmental agency- which is what a school district is.

So I went trolling. Here's where I found I could go:Just let me say, the District IS director got an e-mail requesting that these sites be blocked because they contained:

racial slurs
violence upon constitutional officers
and...
vulgar language.

We'll see what happens... basketball.gif

[EDIT] In Orange County, CA... don't expect much. thud.gif
Noonan
CGCS was blocked at one point at my school because it is a "discussion board". Hey, it is. BUT, I argued that I used it for references for my government class. I was fortunate enough to get it cleared. I also used those sites listed as rationale for this site to be cleared. I managed to get Freeperville banned after I showed them something condoning killing judges and the racist banter that was allowed. Some of the stuff we have posted here pushes the limits of what could be allowed, but I don't think anyone is really reading what others write here. I really do think I'm being more closely monitored than others though.

Go get 'em, Winston Smith!!!!!

Noonan, that's my ultimate goal. Thing is, I've used CGCS for research; one of my students has used the handle "Son of Winston Smith" to start discussions on political issues. It become part of his Government class paper.

But I gotta tell ya- if the ultimate result is to get those right wing monsters out of my school district... mission accomplished!

This is quite a wakeup call to me, Noonan... I had no idea our posts were being used in a classroom environment... on the one hand we should be honored... on the other hand we should consider the influence and effect our thoughts and ideas as well as the way we express they may have on young minds... needless to say there are things I have said here that i regret in that regard. I will henceforth conduct myself in a much higher standard... I promise you, Noonan, that I will not censor my thoughts and ideas but that I will express them more carefully and respectfully... such that I would address my comments to my own children.

All is not well here, in Pleasantville, is it Winston? We live in the belly of the red beast here in OC, CA. Swimming alone in a sea swarming with sharks is a bit(e) unsettling... nice to know you are in my neighborhood. Be careful, Winston... (for me, stealth mode is enabled)

No, not used in a classroom setting by kids. I use the articles and discussion here as reference and research for my own purposes. This site allows me to see not only left, but center and right, which many other sites don't do.

UPDATE:

I.S. said today that they would not block these "moderate to conservative" sites. I said thank you for your consideration but, if that is the case, then why is CGCS, a "moderate to liberal progressive" site blocked? No real answer- some jibberish about their being a bug in the software- but it was unblocked. So, winna few loozafew!
