Just received this:

The environment, and the movement that grew up to protect it, is under attack -- concerted and purposeful. Yet the need for solutions to pressing environmental problems grows more urgent each day. A myriad of environmental problems are occurring in the world today, from contamination of the air and water supply to human-induced global climate change.

We have spoken with people from all over the country to see how these issues unite people across ideological, geographic, and cultural lines. We found a vibrant coalition of people and communities deploying ingenuity, technology, and sheer willpower to save the world they live in. Our new book, This Moment on Earth, celebrates their tremendous efforts.

This book grows out of a long-held passion we've both had about this movement. Throughout the last three decades, we have both dedicated ourselves to improving our environment -- from national efforts like protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from being opened to oil and gas drilling, to efforts focused on our home state like securing federal funds to keep Massachusetts at the forefront of climate-friendly technologies. Teresa also founded an annual conference in Boston on Women's Health and the Environment because we believe that health cannot be understood in isolation from the environment. We feel passionately about this issue and hope this book sparks a new national dialogue about our planet and the steps we must take if we are to preserve it for future generations.

We hope that you can join us on Saturday, April 21 at noon at the First Parish Church in Cambridge, MA where we will be speaking about our recently released book This Moment on Earth and signing copies. The event is being held by Harvard Book Store. Tickets for the event are $5, which can be put toward the purchase of the book.

Three outstanding and innovative Massachusetts-based environmental groups will receive proceeds from the sales of This Moment on Earth -- The Silent Spring Institute, Save the Harbor/Save the Bay, and Second Nature.

Tickets are on sale from Harvard Book Store now, and will be available at the door.

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you on Saturday April 21.

Sincerely,

John Kerry
