QUOTE
MIT's Center for International Studies presents a Starr Forum on the book "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy." Featuring a discussion with the authors John Mearsheimer (University of Chicago) and Stephen Walt (Harvard University), with additional remarks by Bruce Riedel (Brookings Institution). Kirsch Auditorium, Stata Center, MIT bldg. 32-123. Free and open to the public. For more information, contact: Annie Abbondante, 617-253-8306.

Riedel is a Saban Center weenie. Apparently M & W must subject themselves to this nonsense. It like expecting Abe Foxman to invite Norman Finklestein to his every public appearance. So it goes with the "special" relationship.

I have to take issue with the terms "Israel Lobby" and "Jewish Lobby" - the vast majority of American Jews and Israeli Citizens (Jewish, Christian, and Muslim) do NOT agree with the goals of AIPAC, nor do they contribute money to it.

Perhaps it should be called the American-Israeli Military Industrial Complex Lobby, for those are the folks who benefit from America's 4 Billion in aid.

Good point. The authors do show the lobby is not a "Jewish lobby" by citing those very statistics and that Christian Zionists are a major player as well. Perhaps the book title should have started with the "Likud Lobby"

Why do you have such an intense dislike of the Saban Center? Educate me.

Can you back this up with data? I'd be interested. It appears the AIPAC of today is not the AIPAC I once knew.

Israel is more the same than we are.
